The Kansas City Chiefs will host the Detroit Lions to open the 2023 NFL regular season on Thursday, September 7th at Arrowhead Stadium.

The NFL traditionally opens the season with the defending Super Bowl champions on the first Thursday.

When the Chiefs last won the Super Bowl, they hosted the Houston Texans in the opener before an announced crowd of 15,895 due to COVID-19 restrictions.

The Lions won eight of their final 10 games in 2022 to finish at 9-8 and post their first winning record since 2017.
