The Pittsburgh Steelers benched Mitch Trubisky at halftime of Week 4's loss to the New York Jets at least in part because of a locker room confrontation with Diontae Johnson, according to a report.

It had been believed that Trubisky was benched in favor of rookie Kenny Pickett because of poor play.

According to the report, Johnson was yelling at Trubisky over his lack of targets. Trubisky fired right back at Johnson and that's when Pickett was told he'd be the starter for the second half.

Pickett started in Week 5 and 6, but Trubisky was forced into action this past Sunday after the rookie suffered a concussion.
