It?s finally draft time! The player workouts and visits are done, and now it?s last-second jockeying and posturing by the teams and the agents. The First Five Picks 1. Oakland Raiders--Jamarcus Russell, QB, LSU. Forget the trade rumors; ignore the talk about Calvin Johnson or Brady Quinn. This is the least suspenseful #1 overall pick since Carson Palmer. 2. Detroit Lions--Calvin Johnson, WR, Georgia Tech. Johnson will be the #2 pick; the question is ?which team?? The Lions will either deal the pick to the highest bidder (TB, ATL, or SF) and drop down to take Gaines Adams or Leon Hall, or else keep Johnson, who is the best talent in the draft and does fill a need for Detroit. 3. Cleveland Browns--Brady Quinn, QB, Notre Dame. Every time I talk with Browns insiders it becomes clearer they are taking Quinn. This is another pick that could very well be traded, and if the Browns do trade down, they will happily take Adrian Peterson. 4. Tampa Bay Buccaneers--Gaines Adams, DE, Clemson. If the Bucs can?t trade up to secure Calvin Johnson, the next best thing they can do is draft Adams to provide a fresh pass rusher and shore up the run defense in one fell swoop. 5. Arizona Cardinals--Joe Thomas, T, Wisconsin. Lead pipe lock pick if he?s on the board for Arizona, and Thomas fills a huge void on the Cards? OL. The top 5 picks are going to look exactly like this on 90% of all mock drafts, with good reason. Click 'Read' to check out the remainder of Jeff Risdon's final mock draft.
