The Carolina Panthers don't expect to have Christian McCaffrey on Sunday against the Detroit Lions.

McCaffrey is expected to miss a second straight game with a shoulder injury suffered in his first game back after missing six straight with a high ankle sprain.

He hasn't practiced since suffering the injury late in a Nov. 8 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.

The decision to basically rule McCaffrey out came two days after Matt Rhule said he was optimistic the NFL's highest-paid back would play this week.
