Damien Williams has opted out of playing in the 2020 season.

Williams finished 2019 with 711 yards from scrimmage and seven touchdowns in the regular season. Williams also had a pair of touchdowns for the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super bowl.

“As an organization, we certainly understand and respect Damien’s choice, knowing it was made in the best interest of his family,” Chiefs General Manager Brett Veach said in a statement. “He means a lot to our football team as a player and a person, and we’re going to miss having him around this season.”

The Chiefs used a first round pick in 2020 on Clyde Edwards-Helaire at running back. Darwin Thompson and Darrell Williams are also options for the Chiefs.
