The NFL's owners and players are holding separate meetings this week regarding the status of the league's collective bargaining negotiations.

Those meetings could lead to votes to approve or reject the current CBA proposal, according to sources.

Sources said that both sides are working to reach a decision by the March 18 start of the 2020 league year, but it remains to be seen if that's realistic.

All 32 NFL owners are scheduled to meet Thursday in New York City for an update on the current proposal, and sources said they could vote on whether to move ahead with it.

Three-fourths of the league's owners have to approve the CBA for it to be ratified.

National Football League Players Association team player reps and the NFLPA's executive council, which had been planning a Friday meeting in Washington, D.C., on the topic, are now planning to hold a conference call Friday instead of meeting face-to-face.
