The New York Giants have fired Pat Shurmur as head coach, but will retain Dave Gettleman as general manager. Shurmur had a a 9-23 record as head coach.

Shurmur was told of his dismissal a little before 9 a.m.

Baylor coach Matt Rhule is a focus of the Giants' coaching search.
