The Detroit Lions will retain Bob Quinn as general manager and Matt Patricia as head coach for the 2020 season.

Patricia is 9-20-1 overall with the Lions after consecutive 9-7 seasons under Jim Caldwell.

"We expect to be a playoff contender (in 2020) and those are our expectations, which we’ve expressed to both Bob and to Matt," Martha Firestone Ford said.

Thousands of fans were no-shows for last week's loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and the Lions have been serenaded by boos in recent home games.

"(Changing coaches) would have been the popular choice, the popular decision, and we knew that," Ford Hamp said. "But as I say, we’re doing what is right for the organization."
