Robert Griffin III believes he had a chance to start for the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2019 had they not traded for Nick Foles.

The Jaguars tried to trade for Griffin at the end of the preseason and again before the trade deadline.

Griffin waited to sign a two-year, $4 million with the Baltimore Ravens until the Jaguars traded for Foles.

"We knew that was an opportunity and there'd be a chance if things didn't work out with Nick Foles," Griffin said on the Ravens' podcast. "We just wanted to wait and see what would happen."

Griffin will be Lamar Jackson's backup in 2019.
