The Indianapolis Colts violated an NFL policy when they sent sideline personnel onto the field to remove snow from the area where a kick would be lined up in order to help Adam Vinatieri get better footing on Sunday.

Officials working the game in Buffalo quickly sent the Colts' personnel off the field.

"Under no circumstances will a Referee permit clearing by the grounds crew, or other team personnel, of a spot for a PAT or field goal attempt. Only players are permitted to clear such spots by hand or foot," the NFL Game Operations Manual states.
