Colin Kaepernick's legal team is investigating how NFL owners may be influencing sponsors about player protests and using that source of revenue to influence the actions of other owners.

Kaepernick's attorneys will look at whether Jerry Jones pressured Papa John's to speak out against the protests to keep him unsigned.

“The NFL has hurt us,” Papa John's CEO John Schnatter told the media Tuesday. “We are disappointed the NFL and its leadership did not resolve this.”

Recent reports have suggested Jones, who jointly owns over 100 Papa John's franchises, was behind the remarks by Schattner.
