Kirk Cousins is likely to play the 2017 season under the franchise tag of $23.94 million.

Cousins and Washington have until Monday to sign a long-term deal.

After making $19.95 million in 2016, Cousins will make $43.89 million combined over these two seasons under the tag.

Cousins could tag him $35 million for 2018 or use the transition tag for $28 million.

The San Francisco 49ers are amongst the teams likely to pursue Cousins in free agency next season.
