Latavius Murray expects to start for the Minnesota Vikings despite the presence of rookie running back Dalvin Cook.

Murray, who signed with the Vikings as a free agent, didn't participate in the team's offseason activities after having ankle surgery in March.

"It wasn't a surprise. When you see a guy, again, first-round potential sitting there in the second round, they snatch him up, you can't be surprised," he said of the Vikings taking Cook. "It motivates me regardless, because they're always going to bring in somebody to take over for your position."

Cook has impressed the Vikings this offseason and Mike Zimmer said the former Florida State running back has "a chance to be special."
