Adam Gase has emerged as a top candidate for the San Francisco 49ers.

Jim Tomsula is the 49ers' top in-house candidate.

Gase told at least one team in an interview that he plans on calling his own plays if hired as head coach.

Gase is currently offensive coordinator of the Denver Broncos.
