Since the current seeding system was introduced in 1999, the No. 4 seeds are 6-1 (.857) in conference championships.

The top seeds are 21-10 (.677), which is the second-best record in conference championship games.

The Baltimore Ravens are hoping to become the latest fourth seed to advance to the Super Bowl, most recently joining the 2011 Giants, 2008 Cardinals and 2000 Ravens.
