Chargers chairman of the board and president Dean Spanos will be transitioning out of his position overseeing football operations in the next few years, with his son, director of college scouting John Spanos, being moved into that spot.

The Chargers are expected to part ways with both general manager A.J. Smith and head coach Norv Turner.

Sources say the Chargers prefer to hire a new GM first before conducting a coaching search.

The Chargers' director of player personnel Jimmy Raye is expected to be a leading candidate to become GM.
