Tony Sparano, who was fired this season as head coach of the Dolphins, has been named the new offensive coordinator of the Jets. The move came less than 12 hours after the team announced Brian Schottenheimer had resigned from the same role. “When we sat down with Tony, I knew that he was the right person at the right time for our offense,” said Rex Ryan in a statement. “I’ve admired his work as a competitor in the division for the past three seasons. His teams were always physical, tough and hard-nosed.” Sparano's style is similar to the preference of Ryan in prioritizing a bruising running style to create a wide-open passing game.
