The Jets are one of the better defensive teams in the NFL, but haven't been as good as the game progresses. The Broncos had been held to just 134 yards before Tim Tebow led his team on a 95 yard drive for a touchdown in a 17-13 loss for the Jets. Bart Scott said opposing offenses enter "desperation mode" during their final drives and throw out all the rules they've been abiding by throughout the game. "It's kind of like a boxer, where you know you've won all the rounds, and he's swinging to get a knockout, but exposing himself in the process," Scott said. "In those situations, you don't want to be too aggressive because, frankly, they don't care about your pressure or your coverages—they're going to throw the ball anyway," he continued. "They're putting all the cards on the table in trying to win." Rex Ryan doesn't believe the team is overconfident late in games. "It's hard to play 60 minutes of dominant football. There are times you can dominate games completely, and then that one drive gets you, like with Denver," he said. "If you're going to be a dominant team on defense, you've got to close things out."
