The NFL issued the totals for both the franchise and transition tags on Monday via NFL.com. A franchise tag pays a player the average of the five highest-paid players at his position, while the transition tag takes into account the average of the ten-highest paid guys. For example, placing the franchise tag on a quarterback will cost a team $16.405 million in salary this coming season. Using the transition tag would mean a salary of $14.546 million.
