The Texans have awarded coach Gary Kubiak a contract extension that runs through the 2012 season, according to a pair of reports. The new deal voids the final year of his contract and is for the next three seasons, according to the Houston Chronicle. "I'm real excited about it," Kubiak said to the Chronicle. "[Owner] Bob [McNair] has always been very good to me. I respect him a great deal. I'm glad he's got the confidence in me to finish what we started when we came here. We've got a great opportunity to have something real special." Kubiak led the Texans to their first-ever winning season this season.
