Browns wide receiver/kick returner Josh Cribbs says that the team has told him they want to get a new contract in place by the end of the season. "They told me they wanted to do something before the year was over," Cribbs told the Associated Press. "Coach [Eric] Mangini has been optimistic about it as well. He's told me directly I deserve a new contract and he would work to get it done." Cribbs wouldn't say who within the organization told him that a deal was forthcoming, but revealed that the conversation was held during Cleveland's bye week in early November. "We're positive. We're upbeat," Cribbs' agent, J.R. Rickert said. "I'm confident both sides will put forth the best effort they can to get something done." Cribbs has 19 catches for 132 yards and a touchdown this season.
