ESPN/ABC will try to secure television rights for any Saturday games should the NFL make those available if college football is not played in the fall.
Chris Fowler and Kirk Herbstreit would likely call those games as they are also expected to be on the New York Giants-Pittsburgh Steelers "Monday Night" opener on Sept. 14.
The NFL will need to protect the CBS and Fox packages on Sunday while flexing games to Saturdays. Those two networks could move Sunday games to Saturday, while ESPN/ABC and NBC could be in line for a third game on a rotating basis.
