Lions rookie defensive tackle Nick Fairley, the 13th overall pick in April's NFL Draft, may still have a significant impact this season. "This kid, he made a play Thursday that I made all the coaches show in their meeting," defensive coordinator Gunther Cunningham said. "It went beyond something I've ever seen from a big tackle." Fairley broke a bone in his foot on the second day of training camp and, just as he was rounding into game shape, tweaked the foot again three weeks ago against Atlanta. "He's obsessed for these next eight games," Cunningham said. "It's a real good sign." Fairley could see his most extended playing time of the season against Chicago. "He's as healthy as he's been since the injury in training camp," coach Jim Schwartz said. "We're ready to see some big things from him. We are expecting to see some big things from him."
