Washington's QB Competition 'Might Come Down To The Wire'

Jul 26, 2019 8:37 AM

The Washington Redskins have Dwayne Haskins, Case Keenum and Colt McCoy competing as training camp gets underway.

Jay Gruden expects the trio to continue battling all summer and hasn't ruled out naming a starting quarterback just a few days ahead of the team's Week 1 game against the Philadelphia Eagles.

"We got to give these guys opportunities to make plays and see which one is the best," Gruden said. "It might come down to the wire."

Alex Smith Sheds Leg Brace After Eight Months

Jul 16, 2019 8:32 AM

Alex Smith has had the external fixator that had been keeping his leg in place removed eight months after suffering a devastating fracture.

Smith's wife, Elizabeth, posted a picture on Instagram of the milestone.

"The last 8 months have been nothing short of crazy," she wrote. "Although it's not over, today is a big milestone. We are shedding the weight Alex has been carrying (literally and figuratively). It's one step closer to the goal. The resilience, determination and mental fortitude of this man is unmatched."

The quarterback still has a long road ahead of him.

Albert Haynesworth In 'Dire Need' Of Kidney Donor

Jul 11, 2019 9:05 AM

Albert Haynesworth is suffering from kidney failure and has taken to Instagram to announce that he is in "dire need" of a donor for a transplant.

The 38-year-old former defensive tackle last played in the NFL with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2011.

"Well, this is hard for me to say, but my doctors said I should reach out to my family, friends and fans," Haynesworth wrote. "Some of you may know I've been battling kidney disease for a few years ... now the time has come family, friends and fans, I'm in dire need of a kidney ... mine have finally failed me on July 7 2019. It's hard to believe from being a professional athlete to only 8 season in retirement that my body has taken another major blow.

"First with the brain aneurysm 3 seasons out of the NFL to now my kidneys failing me," the post continued. "But the bright side of this latest ordeal I can ask for help by asking for someone to generously donate a kidney. If you are interested in giving this precious gift please call Vanderbilt at 615-936-0695 and hit option 2. GOD BLESS thank you for your prayers and thanks for sharing this message."

Adrian Peterson Ordered To Pay Back $2.4M

Jul 3, 2019 10:08 AM

Adrian Peterson has been ordered to pay nearly $2.4 million to a lending service after he defaulted on a loan, according to court records.

Democracy Capital Corp. of Bethesda, Maryland, sued Peterson in June claiming that he didn't pay the balance of a $4 million loan he took out in April 2016.

The loan was due in February 2018 and was not repaid, but the company did receive a $1.65 million payment in July of that year after properties in Rhode Island that were used as collateral were sold.

Peterson has earned more than $99 million in his 12-year NFL career.
