Kirk Cousins was offered a three-year, $90 million contract from the New York Jets in free agency, which was fully guaranteed.

Cousins was being offered $25 million per year from the Minnesota Vikings.

“We want the money to be guaranteed. My preference would be to get a fully guaranteed contract or do one-year deals,” he said.

Cousins agreed to a three-year, $84 million, fully guaranteed deal with the Vikings, or $28 million per year.

Jordan Reed has missed the entire preseason, but should be ready to play for the Washington Redskins in Week One.

Reed, 28, is dealing with a toe injury and has struggled to remain healthy throughout his career.

The Redskins open the season on Sept. 9 against the Arizona Cardinals.

Adrian Peterson had a strong debut for the Washington Redskins on Friday night, rushing for 56 yards in the team's third preseason game.

He did so on 11 carries in the first half.

"My body feels good right now," Peterson said. "We'll see how I feel when I wake up in the morning. But I felt like I responded well. My legs felt good, I didn't get tired, so the cardio is where it needs to be. And right now I just look at it as knocking a little rust off."

The Redskins signed Peterson on Monday.

Scandrick signed with Washington this offseason and had been working all training camp as a starter, which makes his release a surprise.

Washington signed Scandrick in March to a two-year deal worth up to $7 million.

Washington has lost Derrius Guice for the entire season with a torn ACL.

Guice injured his left knee at the end of a first-quarter run in Thursday's preseason opener against the New England Patriots.

Guice was a second round pick out of LSU.
