Kirk Cousins Keeping Short-Term, Long-Term Goals In Perspective

Sep 6, 2014 9:32 PM

Kirk Cousins has been working as the Washington Redskins' starting quarterback this offseason as Robert Griffin III comes back from knee surgery.

"Hey, if Robert is back by the start of training camp, which may happen, then this maybe was my last day with the 1-offense," Cousins said this week. "It was great to get that experience, and working with the 2-offense will be great as well. I'm still going to be getting a lot of reps. So I'm benefiting from this practice time, for sure, regardless of whether I start."

Cousins was a fourth round pick by the Redskins in 2012 and is comfortable with the long view of his career.

"It takes time to develop into the quarterback that we all want to be," Cousins said. "It's not going to happen overnight. But we're putting the work in, and I'm excited about the career I have ahead of me, as long as I keep doing the things I need to keep doing."

Deacon Jones Passes Away At 74

Oct 31, 2014 6:27 AM

Deacon Jones has passed away at the age of 74.

Jones' death was announced by the Washington Redskins as general manager Bruce Allen's father, George Allen, coached Jones with the Rams and Redskins.

Jones had been treated for lung cancer and heart problems.

Jones became the prototype for the pass-rushing defensive end.

Jones was named to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1980 and was one of three defensive ends on the all NFL 75th anniversary team in 1994.
