The St. Louis Rams chose to keep Sam Bradford and trade the draft rights to Robert Griffin III to the Washington Redskins, changing the course of several franchises in the process.

The Rams believed that Bradford had the potential to become the best quarterback in the NFL, while also receiving a better trade package for Griffin.

The Rams would have received a "high first round pick" in exchange for Bradford.

Goodell: Redskins' Owner, Fans Proud Of Name That Offends Many

Sep 14, 2014 5:12 PM

Roger Goodell received a question on Friday in regards to the controversy surrounding the name of the Washington Redskins.

"Growing up in Washington, I do understand the affinity for that name with the fans," Goodell said. "I also understand the other side of that. I don't think anybody wants to offend anybody. But this has been discussed over a long period of time. I think Dan Snyder and the organization have made it very clear that they are proud of that name and that heritage, and I think the fans are, too."

There has long been a movement outside the NFL to change the name due to its offensiveness toward Native Americans.
