Cut By Redskins, Jansen Heads To Lions

Jun 3, 2014 5:09 PM

Shortly after being cut by the Redskins, offensive lineman Jon Jansen joined the Lions. Jansen will sign a one-year deal with Detroit assuming he passes a physical. "After taking care of things Monday, I'm very excited to show I've got more than one year left in my career," Jansen told the The Associated Press. "The Lions were the No. 1 team I wanted to sign with because it brings me back home, and it gives me a chance to be one of the guys to turn things around." Jansen is from Michigan, and will be trying to reverse his home team's recent 0-16 season.

Redskins Cut Jon Jansen

Nov 4, 2014 2:20 AM

The Redskins released longtime veteran offensive tackle Jon Jansen on Friday. Jansen, who was Washington's second round pick in 1999, still had three more years left on his contract. "It's very disappointing," Jansen said. "I felt and I still feel that I have a lot to offer and I thought I would have had a chance to compete. It wasn't in the cards. It happens and I'll move on and continue my career somewhere else. "Every coach wants to do their thing and it's amazing that I've had so many coaches and someone hasn't come in before and said, I don't care for this guy."

DeAngelo Hall: Vick Deserves Second Chance

Jun 13, 2014 12:59 PM

Redskins cornerback DeAngelo Hall believes that Michael Vick, his former teammate with the Falcons, deserves a second chance. "It's a situation where society is what it is. Obviously people have done a lot of things that are a lot worse than what Mike did but with society being what it is, he definitely had to pay the price. I think he's done that, he's definitely remorseful, he's very sincere about the things he wants to do in the future to help bring awareness to dog fighting and help try to combat that," Hall said on ESPN Radio in Washington D.C. "But I definitely think he deserves another chance to play in this league. I definitely think he can play. There's a lot of quarterbacks that have jobs that don't want to see him back in the league because they know that any time you have teams in divisions drafting players just to stop Michael Vick, that's when you know the guy's a game changer and help you win a lot of games."
