When asked twice if he believed he gave Zorn a roster that could reach the playoffs, Cerrato said "Yes" each time.

Redskins tight end Chris Cooley might play again this season after all. Despite reports that he was done for the season, Cooley could return in a month from a broken right ankle. He'll have surgery on Wednesday. "3 pins go in the ankle tomorrow. Hopefully be back in 4 weeks. Thanks for all the support," he wrote on his Twitter page. Earlier Tuesday, coach Jim Zorn said Cooley would be sidelined a minimum of six to eight weeks and would probably be placed on season-ending injured reserve.

Haynesworth Rips Teammates After Loss

Jun 2, 2014 5:44 AM

Redskins defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth ripped his teammates following their loss to the Eagles on Monday night. "Urgency, heart, 'want-to,' whatever. I don't know. We're lacking a lot of stuff right now," he told the Associated Press. For the second straight game, fans left FedEx Field in Washington, D.C. early. "The fans are losing interest. The more games we play, the fewer fans come. It's getting bad," Haynesworth said.

Gibbs Has No Plans For Return To D.C.

Jun 8, 2014 4:54 PM

Former Redskins coach Joe Gibbs has no plans to return to the struggling franchise. Gibbs laughed off internet rumors on Sunday that linked him to Washington, who are 2-4 entering Monday's game with Philadelphia. "That's what it is. Talk," Gibbs said at a NASCAR event. "Right here's where I'm GMing." He also disagreed with the idea that the Redskins coaching job is one of the toughest in the NFL under owner Dan Snyder. "When I was there last go-round, we had somebody that was a passionate owner, cared about things and supported me in every way," Gibbs said. "I think any NFL team, it's tough when you're not winning, and those things are easy to get off. All you've got to do is look around this year and Tennessee and some of the other teams are struggling that were real good last year."

Theismann: Zorn Wasn't Ready

Oct 9, 2014 2:51 PM

Redskins legend Joe Theismann says that Jim Zorn wasn't ready to be a head coach in the NFL. "If I do want to look at one area, I have to say it was giving Jim Zorn -- an inexperienced playcaller, an inexperienced head coach -- putting him in charge of a football team, an operation that he may not have been ready to take on," Theismann said on NFL Network's NFL GameDay Morning. He described the team as "talented," but said Zorn is overthinking his offense. "They need to stop this shuffling system of trying to get everybody on the field," Theismann said. "It's package after package after package. If you look at this Redskin offense you think you wandered down Christmas morning and you looked under a Christmas tree because there's umpteen packages. You need to stick with your guys on the football field. ... Why do you take Santana [Moss] off the field?"
