Earl Thomas Doesn't Regret Flipping Middle Finger At Pete Carroll

Jul 25, 2019 8:36 AM

Earl Thomas is standing by his decision to flip the middle finger to Pete Carroll last September.

"I don't regret my decision," Thomas said. "If my teammates felt like it was toward them, I regret that part. But I don't regret doing that to Pete."

Thomas was carted off the field with his leg in an air cast in September, after he went down with a broken left leg that required surgery in the second half of a game.

The safety didn't feel Carroll was being genuine when he showed concern on the field after the injury.

"I gave Pete the middle finger because I felt like he wasn't being honest with me," Thomas said.

When Thomas took heat for the gesture last season, Carroll said people needed to cut him "a little slack."

"People that are criticizing whatever happened don't understand," Carroll said. "This was an earth-shattering moment for a kid. He's trying to play this game he loves, and all of sudden this happens again. He knew exactly what happened to him, so he went right to what it's going to take to get back."

Thomas is now a member of the Baltimore Ravens.

Seahawks DL Jarran Reed Suspended Six Games

Jul 23, 2019 8:23 AM

The Seattle Seahawks will be without defensive lineman Jarran Reed for the first six games of the season.

Reed was suspended six games for a violation of the personal conduct policy for an incident from early 2017.

He appealed, but it was denied on Friday morning.

The 26-year-old is coming off a breakout campaign in 2018 in which he compiled 10.5 sacks and 50 tackles in 16 regular-season starts.

Golden Tate: Matthew Stafford Is 'Best QB I've Played With'

Jul 16, 2019 8:22 AM

Golden Tate has played 10 NFL seasons and says Matthew Stafford is the best quarterback he's caught passes from.

Tate has played with the Seattle Seahawks, Detroit Lions and Philadelphia Eagles.

"To me, as of now, where I am today, I think Stafford's been the best quarterback I've played with," Tate said. "The guy can flat-out play. He's tough, his attitude is amazing and he just wants to play ball. For me, I have nothing but praises for him. It's almost unfair that he's such a good player and doesn't have playoffs or a ring to show for it. That kind of hurts my heart that I wasn't able to help change that."

Tate won a Super Bowl with Russell Wilson during his time with the Seahawks.

"I think over his career, if you put him in another organization, maybe things are different. I don't know. Because I've played with some guys over my years that I've won playoff games with that I don't think are as good," Tate said.
