Jan 17, 2019 5:26 PM

The Seattle Seahawks have signed Paxton Lynch.

Lynch didn't play in 2018 after he was released by the Denver Broncos at the end of the preseason.

Lynch was a first round pick by the Broncos in 2016.

Brett Hundley backed up Wilson in 2018 and is a pending free agent.

Russell Wilson will attend spring training with the New York Yankees again this year.

The Yankees hold Wilson's baseball rights and he spent a week in camp with them in 2018.

The Seattle Seahawks quarterback got one plate appearance in an exhibition game last spring. Wilson is expected to engage in talks with the Seahawks on a contract extension this offseason.

Pete Carroll Takes Blame For Offensive Struggles In Loss

Jan 8, 2019 8:18 AM

Pete Carroll doesn't fault offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer for the Seattle Seahawks' struggles in their playoff loss to the Dallas Cowboys.

The Seahawks expressed a commitment to the running game despite ineffectiveness in Saturday night's 24-22 loss.

"First off, for somebody to look at this game and say somebody didn't do this or didn't do that, and try to hold that against them or whatever, is really unfair," Carroll said. "Hold it against me; I'm the guy that's in charge of this thing."

Seattle's top-ranked rushing attack finished with only 73 yards on 24 attempts, their lowest output since Week 2. Russell Wilson attempted 27 passes with 11 coming on the team's final three drives.

In defending Schottenheimer, Carroll said the play-calling was in keeping with the successful approach the Seahawks have taken all year. Their 534 rushing attempts during the regular season were second-most in the NFL, whereas their 427 passing attempts were last.
