Chargers Acquire Cardale Jones From Bills

Jul 26, 2017 8:01 PM

The Los Angeles Chargers have acquired Cardale Jones from the Buffalo Bills for a conditional draft pick in the seventh round.

Jones is familiar with new Chargers head coach Anthony Lynn, as Lynn served as Buffalo's interim head coach at the end of last season.

Behind Rivers, Kellen Clemens has served as the Chargers' backup at QB the past two seasons.

Jones appeared to be fourth on the Bills' depth chart entering camp.

Mike Williams May Need Season-Ending Back Surgery

Jul 19, 2017 4:04 PM

Mike Williams might need back surgery on his herniated disk that would rule him out for the entire 2017 season.

Williams was the seventh overall pick by the Los Angeles Chargers.

The team still is hoping that Williams will respond positively to the second epidural, but also knows there's a real chance he will not and his rookie year will be over before it begins.

"This may be a lot more serious than people thought," said one source familiar with the injury.

The Chargers remain uncertain about when Williams initially injured his back, but one source said it's possible it was injured at the combine and during his pro day, but he did a good enough job masking it so that teams would not know and his draft stock would not be impacted.

Philip Rivers Hopes To Play At Least Four More Seasons

Jul 17, 2017 12:33 PM

Philip Rivers hopes to still be playing for the Los Angeles Chargers when they open their new stadium for the 2020 season.

Rivers turns 36 in December and is under contract through the 2019 season.

"I hope to still be playing football in 2020, and certainly I hope I'm still playing here," Rivers said. "So yeah, I hope to get to see that stadium then. That's a long way out. I've learned to just take them one year at a time and one game at a time at this point. I'm certainly thankful I've been able to be out there for all of them since 2006.

"I don't take that for granted. And hopefully I'm still playing well enough and we've won enough football games that I will be able to trot out there in 2020 in that new stadium."
