Raiders, Seahawks Could Switch Divisions Depending On L.A. Moves

Dec 17, 2014 7:59 AM

The Oakland Raiders and San Diego Chargers are two of three main candidates to move to Los Angeles.

If the Raiders and Chargers were to both move to Los Angeles, the NFL would like one of those teams to move to the NFC West to avoid having two teams in the same division in the same city.

Mark Davis has volunteered to move to the NFC West and the Seattle Seahawks could move back to the AFC West.

The Seahawks moved from the AFC to NFC in 2002 as part of realignment.

Report: NFL Plans To Send 1-2 Teams To L.A. Within Two Years

Oct 27, 2014 2:00 PM

The current plan is that the NFL will send one or two teams back to Los Angeles within the next 12 to 24 months, according to a league source.

The timeline would include a team announcing its intention to move in the 2015 or 2016 offseason, with arrangements to play at the Rose Bowl or the L.A. Coliseum pending the construction of a new stadium.  Possible sites for a venue in L.A. include the AEG project at L.A. Live in downtown, the land purchased recently by Rams owner Stan Kroenke at Hollywood Park, Chavez Ravine, and a couple of locations that have not yet been publicly disclosed.

Ed Roski’s shovel-ready site at City of Industry is not regarded as a viable destination.

The St. Louis Rams, Oakland Raiders and San Diego Chargers are considered the three teams that could relocate. All three also previously played in Los Angeles.
