Rivers: NFL Has More Parity This Season

Jul 31, 2014 11:41 PM

The San Diego Chargers are one of six teams in the AFC with a 5-6 record.

“The parity is unbelievable,” said Philip Rivers. “More than I remember it. That’s what makes the NFL so much fun. The way this league is, we got five games left, four of ’em at home. We could win ’em all. We could lose ’em all. I can look back and say, ‘We should have beaten Washington. Should have beaten Houston. Should have beaten Miami.’ You know what? So could everybody. Woulda, coulda, shoulda. That’s what makes it awesome.”

Chargers' GM Seeing Progress On Offense, Defense

Sep 26, 2014 12:25 PM

San Diego Chargers general Manager Tom Telesco is encouraged by the direction of the team in his first season.

“Obviously at 4-3 at the bye week I was much more encouraged then,” Telesco said. “I'm a little disappointed now at 4-6 -- disappointed but not discouraged because we're seeing progress here on both sides of the ball.”

The Chargers have been able to consistently move the ball all season, but need to improve upon their execution in the red zone.

On defense, the Chargers rank 11th in points allowed per game.

“I think as a whole we need to get consistent really at all three levels -- the front, the linebackers and the secondary,” Telesco said. “And I can tell you with Derek (Cox) that he's a true pro. And he was out here at practice working after practice. He works in the weight room and the meeting room putting everything into it. And these guys will keep working, and Derek will keep working. We're still expecting better things to come.”
