Chargers, Vasher Agree To Two-Year Deal
The Chargers signed cornerback Nathan Vasher to a two-year contract on Monday.
Vasher is a five-year veteran, having spent all his previous seasons with the Bears.
"In Nathan Vasher, we're adding a proven NFL player with experience in the league," said general manager A.J. Smith. "Having played in Chicago under Chargers Defensive Coordinator Ron Rivera (2004-06) and Secondary Coach Steve Wilks (2006-08) is an added bonus."

Stanford running back Toby Gerhart will hold a private workout for the Jets on Monday.
According to an NFL source with knowledge of the situation, Gerhart will visit the Chargers on Thursday.
Gerhart worked out for the Broncos last week.
Vasher Close To Signing With Chargers
Formers Bears Pro Bowl cornerback Nathan Vasher is believed to be close to signing a deal with the Chargers.
Chicago released Vasher close to two weeks ago after general manager Jerry Angelo said at the combine that the team would take him to training camp.
Chargers Interested In Ryan Mathews
Fresno State running back Ryan Mathews is drawing interest from the Chargers leading up to next month's NFL Draft.
San Diego general manager A.J. Smith reportedly met with Mathews before his pro day last Wednesday.
"When GMs come out here to watch you, it's a big deal," Mathews told the Fresno Bee. "Hopefully, they like you. Hopefully, I impressed him enough to where if I get a chance to be on his team, (Smith) picks me up."
The Chargers have the 28th overall pick and RealGM's Jeff Risdon has Mathews going to the Texans with the 20th pick.

Ever since Chicago surprisingly cut cornerback Nathan Vasher, the Chargers have expressed the most interest.
San Diego defensive coordinator Ron Rivera is familiar with Vasher from his time with the Bears.
Seahawks Trade For Charlie Whitehurst
The Seahawks will acquire reserve quarterback Charlie Whitehurst from the Chargers.
He has yet to attempt a regular-season pass in the NFL, but Seattle is willing to give up draft-day position this year and next to land the restricted free-agent.
Seattle and San Diego will swap second round picks and the Chargers will receive the Seahawks' third-round choice in 2011.
The Seahawks are expected to sign Whitehurst to a two-year contract that will pay him more than $4 million per season.

Chargers quarterback Charlie Whitehurst will sign his tender on Wednesday, according to a league source.
Whitehurst indicates his preference is to sign with Seattle, and he's waiting for the Chargers and Seahawks to agree to a trade, a league source said.

Cromartie, 25, started 45 of 70 regular season and postseason games played during four seasons for the Chargers, contributing 15 interceptions.
