Merriman Eager To Return

Nov 7, 2014 1:36 AM

Chargers linebacker Shawne Merriman is eager to return to the field after appearing in just one game last season. He is coming off an injury to his left knee and reported to camp on Monday along with San Diego's quarterbacks, rookies and other players coming off injuries. "I just want to help the team get back what we lacked last year?nastiness and intensity and being physical," Merriman said. "I think that's where you notice it, being away from the game. Some of the things that I was really good at doing, that is motivating everybody else, getting everybody else to take their game to another level."

Turner: LT Will Challenge For Rushing Title

Jul 8, 2014 1:46 PM

Chargers coach Norv Turner expects to give LaDainian Tomlinson plenty of carries this season. Turner was asked by The San Diego Union-Tribune what should be expected of Tomlinson with Darren Sproles expected to have a bigger role in the offense. "I would expect LT to be among the top three or four rushers in the league," Turner said. "And depending how our season goes and the games go, he'll be a factor in the rushing title. Darren is going to complement him. But Darren's starting point is in the return game and we'll pick our spots with him on offense."
