Aug 16, 2014 11:53 AM

Chargers president and CEO Dean Spanos admitted that he was prepared to do "everything he could" to keep LaDainian Tomlinson in San Diego. "What he's done since his career started here, what he's meant to the community and the fans and the organization, it was unthinkable he wouldn't be here," Spanos said Tuesday night just after a new three-year agreement was reached. Spanos has final say in all negotiations, and while he was in full agreement with general manager A.J. Smith that the running back's salary needed to be reduced, Spanos was willing to "give a little extra" above what was ultimately agreed upon "to get this done."
