Freeney Out For Revenge

May 21, 2014 6:00 PM

Dwight Freeney will return to the stage that 12 months ago produced what the Indianapolis Colts defensive end calls "a bad moment in my life." "I don't have great memories of that field," Freeney said Thursday. "Not at all. Hopefully, I can go out there and get my revenge on the whole stadium and everybody out there and the whole team." Using one of his familiar spin moves in the fourth quarter of a 23-21 loss at San Diego last year, Freeney suffered an injury to his left foot when his cleats got caught in the sloppy turf.

Pardee: Offical Should Never Call Another Game

Aug 4, 2014 1:42 PM

Former NFL coach Jack Pardee doesn't believe that Scott Green, the referee that negated Troy Polamalu's late touchdown for the Steelers against the Chargers on Sunday, should be allowed to call another game. "If it was a coach making a mistake like that he'd be fired," said Pardee, who coached 11 years in the NFL. "That official should never call another game. That might sound harsh, but that's how you get the attention of the officials."

Tomlinson: Forecast Dim, But Focused

May 21, 2014 7:02 PM

Chargers' running back LaDainian Tomlinson has admitted that the team's forecast for the playoffs is dim, but he is still focused on playing his best football. "I think so, I really do," Tomlinson said of the grim outlook. "Two games back, you're not out of it, but it's like blown opportunities we keep on talking about. Whenever you keep blowing opportunities, at some point opportunities don't come about anymore. When the opportunity comes, you open the door and take it. If you don't, it passes you by and goes to somebody else." San Diego is two games back of Denver in the AFC West. "I wouldn't go that far to say we're done," he said. "Anything can still happen in six games. But it does look slim. We're not done yet."

$100 Million In Total Bet On Steelers-Chargers Game

Nov 8, 2014 9:36 AM

One Vegas bookie said that $100 million was bet on Sunday's game betwen the Steelers and Chargers, with $66 million of that bet on Pittsburghs. The Steelers were four-point favorites and instead of winning 17-10 or 18-10, the Steelers won 11-10 after Troy Polamalu's last second touchdown was controversially overruled. With five seconds remaining, trailing 11-10, the Chargers, on their own 21, tried a multiple-lateral play to keep the ball alive. LaDainian Tomlinson caught a pass, flipped it to Chris Chambers, who then tried to pitch it to a teammate before it was taken away by Polamaul and returned for a touchdown.

LT: Chargers Need To 'Get A Win'

Nov 8, 2014 9:37 AM

Chargers' running back LaDainian Tomlinson claims that the only thing on the team's mind is posting a win against the Chiefs this Sunday. Many are expecting San Diego, who have lost two-straight, to roll over Kansas City. "Get a win," said Tomlinson. "That's pretty much the only thing that's on our mind - find a way to get a win. It is a division game, so it's more important than the other games. "For us, any time you play a division game, it's not going to be easy because teams know you so well," he added. "No matter how good or bad a team may be doing, that game probably is always going to be pretty much a close one."
