Titans Can Still Trade For RB Turner

Oct 27, 2014 6:31 PM

A draft day trade for San Diego?s Michael Turner remains a possibility for the Titans. ?The last time I talked to A.J. Smith, we agreed to stay in touch. We both have been using our time preparing for the draft. I don?t think the door is closed, but I wouldn?t say anything is imminent either,? Reinfeldt said. The Chargers tendered Turner at the highest level ($2.35 million, first and third-round compensation) as a restricted free agent, but found no takers. Talk is that the Chargers might accept less than a first-round pick come draft day. There was a report that not only were the Titans and Buffalo Bills interested, but that as many as four other teams had inquired about Turner as well.

Turner's Restricted Free Agency Ends Friday

May 27, 2014 7:10 PM

A deadline everyone knew would pass without action is upon Michael Turner, and he will no longer be a free agent after today. If the backup running back is to leave the Chargers before 2008, it will be in a trade. Today is the deadline for restricted free agents to sign an offer sheet from a team other than their own. ?He's either going to be traded to our liking or he's going to be here,? General Manager A.J. Smith said this week.

Tomlinson Turned Down Madden Cover Offer?

May 21, 2014 3:25 PM

LaDainian Tomlinson's business manager confirmed yesterday that the Chargers running back turned down the opportunity to grace the cover of the John Madden '08 video game. LaMar Andrews said EA Sports, which makes the popular Madden series game, wanted Tomlinson on the cover. An EA Sports spokesman had said Tuesday that Vince Young was the company's choice all along. The Madden cover athlete is generally paid $100,000 to $200,000 and is required to make numerous promotional appearances.

Turner Likely To Stay In San Diego?

Jul 5, 2014 8:45 PM

The Bills have been in the market for a running back since trading Willis McGahee to Baltimore. One possibility was San Diego restricted free agent Michael Turner, who visited Buffalo recently. Although talks are ongoing, Levy doubts a deal will happen. ?There?s nothing new to report right now,? Levy told reporters at the Bills? practice facility. ?There are so many complexities to the deal that if it?s done, I?ve got to tell you, it would be a surprise.? The Chargers would receive a first- and third-round draft pick from the team that signs Turner before Friday?s deadline. Any trade can be worked out before or after the deadline, but it would be contingent upon signing Turner to a long-term contract. Turner?s agent, Bus Cook, said in Tuesday?s edition of the Nashville Tennessean he thinks his client will remain in San Diego next season. ?Things could change, and it could happen on draft day, too,? Cook said. ?Nothing is happening right now, though.?
