Fullback Lorenzo Neal, who has blocked for eight straight 1,000-yard rushers, has agreed to a two-year contract extension through the 2007 season. Neal is in his third season in San Diego, where he blocks for LaDainian Tomlinson, and his 13th in the NFL. He has played in 183 consecutive regular-season games dating to 1994, including the last 39 games with the Chargers. Tomlinson's Streak Ends At 18

Jul 16, 2014 12:15 AM

San Diego's LaDainian Tomlinson saw his NFL record-tying streak of games scoring a touchdown end Sunday at the hands of the Philadelphia Eagles' defense. The Eagles held Tomlinson to a career-low 7 yards rushing on 17 carries and kept him out of the end zone to end his streak at 18 consecutive games with a TD. In his worst game as a pro, Tomlinson, who came in with 652 yards rushing and 13 TDs combined, lost yards on each of his first four carries and didn't have positive yards until the fourth quarter. He shares the NFL record for consecutive games scoring touchdowns with Baltimore's Lenny Moore, who scored in 18 straight from 1963-65. "It's not so much a disappointment," Tomlinson said. "I've had a great run at it."

Rivers Could Now Be Available

Oct 9, 2014 10:00 PM

By acquiring backup QB A.J. Feeley from the Dolphins, the Chargers apparently have decided to part next spring with Drew Brees (a free agent in '06) or backup Philip Rivers, a former No. 1 pick. The Jets, deeply concerned about whether Pennington will rebound from his second shoulder surgery in eight months, will be in the quarterback market. They will take a hard look at the Chargers' situation, especially if Rivers is available.

McCardell Owes The Bucs $1.5 Million

Jul 15, 2014 5:57 PM

San Diego touchdown machine Keenan McCardell owes the Tampa Bay $1.5 million of the bonuses he received from the team in 2002. "When Keenan McCardell refused to report to Tampa Bay in 2004 as a tactic to renegotiate his contract, he violated its terms and is required to return the $1.5 million received by him as signing and roster bonuses," said Dennis Curran, senior vice president and general counsel of the NFL Management Council, which supported the decision of the arbitrator. "Upholding those provisions discourages player holdouts at all teams."
