Antonio Brown To Le'Veon Bell: 'Show Up And Get Better'

May 25, 2018 12:18 PM

Antonio Brown wants Le'Veon Bell with the Pittsburgh Steelers during OTAs.

"The first rule of getting better is showing up," Brown said. "You can't make anything better without showing up. And I think if he shows up, make everyone understands where he wants to be, he wants to be here not just for this year but for years to come, come out here and show up. Show up and get better. Show guys you're serious."

Bell and the Steelers expressed optimism earlier this offseason that a long-term agreement would be reached.

The running back sat out training camp and reported in time for the season opener last year.

Le'Veon Bell Won't Report To OTAs With Steelers

May 22, 2018 3:46 PM

Le'Veon Bell plans on skipping the Pittsburgh Steelers' organized team activities.

Bell remains unsigned after the Steelers used the franchise tag on him for the second straight season.

Bell didn't report until September after the two sides were unable to agree upon a long-term contract.

Bell could earn $14.5 million on the tag, which he considers his contractual floor for a per-year payout on a long-term deal.

Mason Rudolph Shrugs Off Ben Roethlisberger's Comments

May 7, 2018 8:27 AM

Mason Rudolph doesn't blame Ben Roethlisberger for comments he made to a local Pittsburgh radio station on Friday.

Roethlisberger told 93.7 The Fan that he was surprised the Pittsburgh Steelers selected Rudolph in the third round over players who can "help this team now," and he hedged when asked about playing any sort of mentor role.

Rudolph discussed the comments on NFL Network this weekend.

"If I was Ben, I'd probably say the same thing," the former Oklahoma State quarterback said. "He's a competitor. Obviously, he has a lot of confidence in himself, like I do. And, yeah, he's going to be a future Hall of Famer, and I would expect him to say that. So I'm just looking forward to going in there and learning the system, competing, raising my level of play, preparing like I'm the starter even though obviously I won't be the starter and just waiting and being prepared for whenever I get my time. Whenever my time comes, to be ready and take advantage of it."

Steelers Convert Ryan Shazier's $8.7M Salary Into Bonus

May 3, 2018 1:09 PM

The Pittsburgh Steelers have converted $8.26 million of linebacker Ryan Shazier's $8.718 million base salary for 2018 into a signing bonus.

Shazier will receive this money immediately.

Shazier approached the Steelers about the conversion and the move was done at his request.

Shazier continues to rehab and recover from a spinal injury suffered last season in a game against the Bengals. While his football career remains in doubt at this point, he has made notable progress.

Ben Roethlisberger Plans On Playing 3-5 More Seasons

May 1, 2018 5:25 PM

Ben Roethlisberger intends to play for another three to five years.

The Pittsburgh Steelers drafted Mason Rudolph in the third round last week, which was surprising to the 36-year-old Roethlisberger.

“Well, that’s fine. He can do that,” Roethlisberger told the Post-Gazette on Tuesday about the rookie someday taking over as the Steelers starting quarterback. “But I plan on playing for three to five more years, depending on how the line goes and staying healthy, if I can stay healthy.

“If he’s going to be their guy, that’s great, but in my perfect world it’s not going to be for a while.”

The Steelers rated Rudolph as being in the same category as the quarterbacks selected in the first round.

“I went and talked to Art [Rooney II] and coach [Mike Tomlin] and coach Randy [Fichtner] and basically said, ‘Listen, I can’t control — barring major injuries, barring things at home, and things out of your control — the way my body feels. The way our O-line is put together, as good as they are, they kept me healthy as can be the last couple years. I really feel I can play this game another three to five years.’

“I’ll still take it one year at a time and give it everything I have that one year, but that’s what I felt comfortable in telling them.”
