Steelers Don't Want To Run Sneaks For Ben Roethlisberger

Oct 27, 2017 8:20 AM

Ben Roethlisberger wants to run more quarterback sneaks at the goal line, but the Pittsburgh Steelers don't want to put him in harm's way.

Todd Haley was coy about running the play.

"Maybe we'll have to get it in," he said.

Haley was then asked why the Steelers haven't run sneaks to this point. Roethlisberger has 13 carries for minus-9 yards this season, all of which have been either end-of-half kneel downs or scrambles.

"Those are kind of general staff decisions," Haley said. "Some staffs choose not to let people earhole their quarterback in the side of the head. Other staffs take that risk at times. There is risk-reward with everything you do."

Steelers Bench Martavis Bryant Over Social Media Posts

Oct 27, 2017 8:27 AM

The Pittsburgh Steelers are benching Martavis Bryant for Sunday's game against the Detroit Lions over his recent use of social media.

Bryant said he was relegated to scout-team work during Wednesday's practice. The receiver, who has vented multiple times about his role on social media, said that he's frustrated but will continue to play hard.

"I'm not going to hide how I feel," Bryant said. "What happened has happened."

The trade deadline is Oct 31, but the Steelers have made it clear that Bryant won't be made available.

Mike Tomlin: Martavis Bryant Situation 'Not High On My Damn Agenda'

Oct 24, 2017 6:11 PM

Mike Tomlin will meet with Martavis Bryant about his continued issues with his role on the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Bryant has 18 catches for 234 yards and one touchdown in seven games so far this year.

Bryant has requested a trade from the Steelers.

"... When I do (visit with Bryant), I'll reign down my judgment and we'll move forward. ... He says some things when he's not around us that are somewhat of a distraction. And I say somewhat because we're fielding questions about it, not because it's high on my damn agenda. But because I am fielding questions, it is somewhat of a distraction, and we'll deal with it as such and move on from it."

Martavis Bryant Again Wants Trade From Steelers

Oct 23, 2017 10:02 AM

Martavis Bryant was targeted just twice in the Pittsburgh Steelers' win on Sunday.

Bryant previously requested a trade and the Steelers were expected to get him more involved in the offense moving forward.

Bryant again wants a trade from Pittsburgh. Bryant was suspended for all of 2016.

"He wants out," a source close to Bryant said. "Point blank."

Bryant called out Pittsburgh rookie JuJu Smith-Schuster on social media in a response to a comment after the game.

"JuJu is no where near better than me, fool," Bryant commented. "All they need to do is give me what I want and y'all can have JuJu and whoever else."

Smith-Schuster has cut into Bryant's playing time.

"JuJu is the future and got great talent and is going to be one of the best to play this game," Bryant commented. "I want him to get his. I just want mines, period, point-blank. Ain't nobody did nothing to get me back. I worked my ass off to get myself back with no help and little support, period. In due time the process will show."

The NFL's trade deadline is on October 31st.

Ben Roethlisberger: Maybe I Don't Have It Anymore

Oct 8, 2017 8:03 PM

Ben Roethlisberger was intercepted five times in the Pittsburgh Steelers' 30-9 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Roethlisberger considered retiring in the offseason and appears to be doubting his game.

"I don't think so, but maybe I am. Maybe I don't have it anymore. I'm not playing well enough."

Roethlisberger then was asked if he's doubting his game.

"Nope. If anybody in this room ever has that doubt, they probably aren't here. You know what I'm saying? Professional athletes shouldn't have doubt."

Roethlisberger cited his age for why he might retire before the 2017 season.
