Steelers Want To Keep Antonio Brown Long-Term

Feb 1, 2017 3:26 PM

The Pittsburgh Steelers would like to keep Antonio Brown long-term.

“Antonio is a good guy, a good person,” Art Rooney II said, via the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. “I enjoy him as a personal relationship, and I think he’s somebody that his teammates like to have him on the team. He’s a hard worker, so he’s another player we’re hoping to address his contract and have him here for the long term.”

Brown has one more season on his current deal.

Martavis Bryant Applies For Reinstatement

Jan 30, 2017 8:35 AM

Martavis Bryant, who was suspended for the 2016 season for violations of the NFL's substance abuse policy, applied for reinstatement with the league this week, according to Bryant's agent, Thomas Santanello.

Bryant will be subject to a meeting with commissioner Roger Goodell or his representative, along with a league medical advisor who will make a recommendation to Goodell based on the strength of the case.

The reinstatement process is designed to "enable the Commissioner to render a decision within 60 days of the receipt of the application," according to the league's Policy and Program on Substances of Abuse, but the process can take longer than that if necessary.

In recent months, Bryant underwent NFL-administered treatment while training and coaching local high school football in Henderson, Nevada.

Ben Roethlisberger Considering Retirement

Jan 25, 2017 11:19 AM

Ben Roethlisberger is unsure if he will continue his career in 2017 and will consider retirement.

Roethlisberger will turn 35 in March and has missed time in each of the last two seasons with knee issues. Roethlisberger is under contract through 2020.

Mike Tomlin says Roethlisberger has mentioned possible retirement to the coaching staff at various points.

Tomlin says he's not alarmed by Roethlisberger questioning his future, adding Roethlisberger is "the most significant component of what we do."

Antonio Brown Has Facebook Endorsement Deal In High Six Figures

Jan 23, 2017 2:23 PM

Antonio Brown has an endorsement deal with Facebook in the high six-figures.

Brown broadcast the Pittsburgh Steelers' postgame locker room from the Divisional Round via a live stream video.

The Steelers are still investigating the incident, but the expectation is they will fine him for conduct detrimental to the team.

Brown also broke the NFL's social media policy for posting content before reporters had completed their postgame duties.

Mike Tomlin called Brown's actions "foolish and inconsiderate." Brown apologized and explained "emotions and genuine excitement" got the best of him.

Ben Roethlisberger: Felt Like Game Was Too Big For Young Steelers

Jan 23, 2017 8:17 AM

Ben Roethlisberger believes that playoff experience may have been a problem for the Pittsburgh Steelers against the New England Patriots in the AFC Championship Game.

Roethlisberger has plenty of experience, but his supporting cast is relatively young.

"It just at times almost felt like it was almost too big for some of the young guys," he said.

The quarterback was asked specifically about Sammie Coates and Cobi Hamilton, who each caught just two of the five passes Roethlisberger threw their way.

"It's a little frustrating because we talk about sometimes it's just one play here, one play there and tonight we didn't make those plays," he said. "Was it too big? Was it just a, I don't know. We need to make every single play in a game like this against an opponent like this."

Le'Veon Bell 'Had No Burst' After Suffering Groin Injury

Jan 23, 2017 8:11 AM

Le'Veon Bell left Sunday's AFC Championship Game in the first half with a groin injury and didn't return.

Bell revealed after the game that he played through the injury for weeks, but it flared up against the New England Patriots.

"I had no burst anymore," Bell said.

After breaking franchise records for single-game rushing performances in the regular season and the playoffs, Bell's season ended with a quiet 20 yards on six carries.

"I felt like I was holding the team back," Bell said after the game. "It's real disappointing. We work so hard to get here. I felt like I had done a lot to help us get here. To not play and not go to battle with my teammates, it hurt."

Ben Roethlisberger: Patriots Are 'Dragon, We're Trying To Slay Them'

Jan 19, 2017 7:06 AM

The Pittsburgh Steelers will travel to Gillette Stadium to take on the New England Patriots in Sunday's AFC Championship Game.

Ben Roethlisberger knows the Steelers face a tall task if they want to advance to Super Bowl LI.

"It's the championship game. You've got one game to get to the Super Bowl. Like I said, you're going up to the lion's den, the dragon's lair," Roethlisberger said. "They're the dragon and we're trying to slay them. It doesn't matter who it is, but as I said they're the gold standard."

The Patriots are 16-3 at home in the playoffs under Bill Belichick.

"They're the best in the world, they're the gold standard if you will, so you want to have that opportunity to go play the best. It'll be an awesome challenge for us," Roethlisberger said.

Steelers Hope To Avoid Communication Issues At Gillette Stadium

Jan 18, 2017 8:46 AM

The Pittsburgh Steelers had on-field communication issues the last time they played the New England Patriots at Gillette Stadium.

"We were listening to the Patriots' radio broadcast for the majority of the first half," Tomlin said in September of 2015. He added that communication issues were "always" a problem when playing games at Gillette Stadium.

Heading into this Sunday's AFC title game, Tomlin expects any issues to be cleared up.

"I'm going to proceed with the presumption that that's the case," Tomlin said.

Antonio Brown took viewers inside the locker room following Sunday night's 18-16 playoff victory over the Chiefs in Kansas City, posting 17 minutes of video on Facebook Live that included the voice of head coach Mike Tomlin addressing the team.

Tomlin highlighted how the New England Patriots have a head start in their preparations for Sunday's AFC Championship Game, after beating the Houston Texans 34-16 on Saturday.

"When you get to this point in the journey, man, not a lot needs to be said. Let's say very little moving forward. Let's start our preparations. We just spotted these a--h---- a day and a half. "Keep cool on social media. This is about us, nobody else, man," one said.

The video had over 900,000 views just a few hours after it aired. It was removed from Brown's page Monday morning.
