Ben Roethlisberger: Steelers 'Can't Have' Antonio Brown's Flags

Nov 30, 2016 11:38 PM

The Pittsburgh Steelers have talked to Antonio Brown about his celebration penalties following touchdowns, according to Ben Roethlisberger.

Brown received his third touchdown-celebration penalty of the season against the Indianapolis Colts on Thanksgiving.

"He knows, we all know, Coach [Mike] Tomlin brought it up yesterday, that is a huge penalty and we can't do that," Roethlisberger said on 93.7 The Fan. "We put our kick coverage team in a bad situation and we can't have that, and AB knows that."

Roethlisberger added that he understands Brown's excitement after scoring and believes the officials are watching Brown closely.

Ben Roethlisberger 'Blown Away' Browns Didn't Draft Carson Wentz

Nov 17, 2016 10:46 AM

Ben Roethlisberger, who said earlier this season that he was "really surprised" the Cleveland Browns didn't draft Carson Wentz with the second overall pick, took it one step further on Wednesday.

"I thought for sure he was going to Cleveland," Roethlisberger said. "There was not a doubt in my mind that he wasn't a perfect AFC North quarterback, a great fit for you guys and everything. Then when everything transpired, I was blown away by it, but you never know.

"It's early in his career. You hate to jump to conclusions and call him the same thing as me, who has been in the league for 13 years, but only time will tell if that same thing kind of happened there, too."

Roethlisberger and Wentz share an agent. The Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback admits that he's still fueled by being passed over by the Browns at No. 6 in 2004.

Ben Roethlisberger Calls Out Steelers For Lack Of Discipline

Nov 14, 2016 8:09 AM

Ben Roethlisberger didn't hide his frustration following Sunday's loss to the Dallas Cowboys.

Roethlisberger connected with Antonio Brown for what looked like the game-winning score with less than a minute remaining only to watch the Cowboys march down the field themselves. He told reporters multiple times that the Pittsburgh Steelers need more accountability and discipline.

"We are undisciplined and not accountable," Roethlisberger said from his locker. "That's why (the Cowboys) are one of the best in the business and we're not right now."

When asked how the team got to that point, Roethlisberger said, "I don't know. Is it players? Is it coaches? I don't know, but we need to get there quick."

Tony Romo Unlikely To Be Active Against Steelers

Nov 13, 2016 10:43 AM

Tony Romo is healthy enough to play, but is unlikely to be made active by the Dallas Cowboys for Sunday's game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, according to sources.

Romo went through his second straight full practice Thursday, working with the scout team. He hasn't played since suffering a compression fracture in his back during a preseason game Aug. 25.

On Wednesday, ESPN's Ed Werder reported Romo had been medically cleared and that the decision to be active is now in the hands of the coaches.

Ben Roethlisberger Could Start Week 9

Nov 6, 2016 12:58 PM

Ben Roethlisberger could start in Week 9 against the Baltimore Ravens.

Roethlisberger, who is listed as questionable for Sunday as he recovers from a torn left meniscus, underwent surgery Oct. 17 to repair the knee injury. He has been limited in every practice this week, though teammates have said Roethlisberger has gotten first-team reps this week.

Sources said it is expected to be "a true game-day decision."

Roethlisberger was originally given a four- to six-week timetable to return.
