Tomlin Made Decision To Switch Offensive Coordinators
Steelers coach Mike Tomlin says that it was his call to replace offensive coordinator Bruce Arians with Todd Haley and that the directive to make a change didn't come from above.
"I'm not going to apologize for change," Tomlin told reporters.
"I hired Todd Haley as well, which is your next question, which is a funny one to me," he added. "Don't get me wrong. Art Rooney owns the football team. He can do what he wants but those directives did not happen."
The Steelers let Arians' contract expire and then termed his exit from the team as a retirement.
Arians, however, later accepted a job as the Colts' offensive coordinator.
William Gay Agrees To Join Cardinals
The Cardinals have agreed to a two-year deal with William Gay.
Gay spent the previous four seasons with the Steelers, who selected him in the fifth round of the 2007 draft.
Steelers Still Prefer To Give Wallace Long-Term Deal
The Steelers want to sign Mike Wallace to a long-term contract, but there is no timetable for an agreement.
"The sooner the better as far as we're concerned but there's two parties to it," president Art Rooney said.
"We'll have to see what we agree on so I don't want to put any particular time frame on it or restrictions on it because these things take time and I wouldn't want to box myself in on it."
Wallace, who has 3,206 receiving yards and 24 touchdowns in his first three seasons, is a restricted free agent.
Mike Wallace Reportedly Wants Bigger Contract Than Fitzgerald
Mike Wallace, a restricted free agent, will hit the open market if he doesn't sign a long-term deal this offseason.
According to an NFL source, Wallace seeks a contract that surpasses the eight-year, $120 million deal that Larry Fitzgerald signed last year with the Cardinals.
His demands are likely the reason why little has been reported about his status since free agency began.
Any team that signs Wallace to an offer sheet would lose a first-round pick to Pittsburgh as compensation, adding to the total cost.
Report: Steelers Don't Expect To Have Mendenhall In 2012
The Steelers are not expecting injured running back Rashard Mendenhall to be fully recovered from his torn ACL until the 2013 season, according to sources.
Mendenhall suffered the injury in Pittsburgh's regular-season finale against the Browns last season.

Pittsburgh released Ward early this month and he has drawn no interest at all in the free agent market.
Ryan Clark Claims 'No One' Wants To Play For Dolphins
Having lost out on free agents Peyton Manning and Matt Flynn this offseason, Steelers safety Ryan Clark poked fun at the Dolphins.
Responding to a previous tweet that claimed no one wants to sign with Miami, Clark tweeted: "No one! To believe I almost went there but it was easy decision not to."
Clark considered playing for the Dolphins in 2010, even paying Miami a visit, before re-signing with the Steelers.
Steelers Place First-Round Tender On Wallace
The Steelers have placed a first-round tender on Mike Wallace, according to a source.

Patriots Could Target Mike Wallace
In his latest mock draft, Pat Kirwan of CBS Sports predicts that the Patriots will make a deal for Mike Wallace.
New England has two first-round draft picks and enough cap space to add a player like Pittsburgh's Wallace.
New England has been unable to adequately fill their vertical threat since the departure of Randy Moss.
Cost-Cutting Steelers Raising Ticket Prices
The Steelers are raising ticket prices for the 2012 season.
Pittsburgh has spent the last few weeks cutting and releasing players in an effort to reduce their salary cap number.
In a letter mailed to season-ticket holders, the team said the price increase was in order to "meet the challenges of remaining competitive in the National Football League."
Report: Ward Wasn't Offered Pay Cut
The wide receiver had two years and $8 million remaining on his contract.
