Heath Miller tore the ACL in his right knee in Sunday's loss to the Bengals.

"Unfortunately his season comes to an end," Mike Tomlin said. "He has been rock solid for us and we really appreciate his efforts. We understand injuries are a part of the game, but unfortunately it brings his season to a close."

Miller finished the season with 71 catches for career highs of 816 yards and eight touchdowns.

Dan Rooney, co-owner of the Pittsburgh Steelers, is expected to step down as United States ambassador to Ireland.

When asked what role Rooney would have upon his return, his son and team president Art Rooney II said in a text: “My father has been busy and focused on his position in Ireland so we really haven‘t talked about what he wants to do when he gets back. We‘ll talk about that after the season.”

Ben Roethlisberger will start for the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday against the Chargers.

Roethlisberger will play with a custom fit rib/chest compression shirt and a layer of Kevlar-lined composite in his shoulder pads to help absorb hits to his clavicle and shoulder joint regions.

"He looks like himself for the most part," offensive coordinator Todd Haley said. "Now I don't know what he's feeling when he's doing some of those things. But it looks like he's moving around pretty good."

Ben Roethlisberger continues to make progress with his rib and shoulder injuries.

Roethlisberger has missed three straight starts for the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Roethlisberger will attempt to demonstrate he is now capable of making all of the required throws.

Charlie Batch has started the past two games.
