Dolphins Insist They Had Ball In End Zone

Aug 7, 2014 12:55 AM

After Sunday's loss to the Steelers, the Dolphins continued to insist that they recovered the football when Ben Roethlisberger fumbled near the goal line in the fourth quarter. Pittsburgh's Jeff Reed was able to kick the game-winning field goal on fourth down after officials determined that Roethlisberger had fumbled before crossing Miami's goal line but they could not determine who recovered the loose ball in the end zone. The Steelers were awarded the ball at the Dolphins' half-yard line. "Nobody else had that ball but me," Dolphins linebacker Ikaika Alama-Francis said. "I wasn't going to let it go. Damn right, I had it. I'm getting up with the ball and I'm hearing white ball, white ball. I came up with the ball and I wasn't going to let it go. "I was confident we had the ball and it was a touchback for us and we win the game. That ball was tucked under my armpit and it wasn't going nowhere. I was the first one on the ball and it shows, and I know I had it."

Cleveland's Mack Calls Harrison 'Dirty'

Oct 29, 2014 1:46 AM

Browns center Alex Mack has chimed in on the play of Steelers linebacker James Harrison. Harrison inflicted two hits on Cleveland players that were highlighted this past weekend. He was fined and briefly claimed that he considered retirement because of new league rules on physical play. "If you watch the game film, (Harrison) was doing that to everyone on every play," Mack said. "People would be on the ground and he would try to spear them. There's a play on film where Peyton Hillis is tackled and he comes up and spears him. It's like you're being cheap, you're being dirty."

Tomlin Defends Harrison's Hits

Jul 19, 2014 1:31 AM

Steelers coach Mike Tomlin says the hit linebacker James Harrison made on Browns wide receiver Mohamed Massaquoi was within the rules. The NFL is reviewing whether Harrison's concussion-causing hit on Massaquoi warrants a fine or suspension. "I'm all for player safety. I think it is the proper initiative that the NFL has," Tomlin said. "I think we need to safeguard the men that play this game to the best of our abilities and make it as safe as we can. I'm a proponent of player safety and whatever rule or rule adjustments we need to make to make it safer."
