NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell called his Tuesday morning meeting with Pittsburgh Steelers chairman Dan Rooney and his four brothers about the franchise's ownership situation "productive," according to Associated Press. They met for nearly three hours at league headquarters in New York City. Mendenhall Getting Rough Treatment On Fumbles From Ward

Nov 14, 2014 4:29 PM

Rashard Mendenhall arrived at the Steelers' practice facility on Monday morning to find the following message scribbled onto the grease board in the locker room: "Take Mendenhall's ball away and get $100 from him. And you get an extra $500 if you bring it to the RB's meeting room." The message was written by Hines Ward, who has taken it upon himself to teach him how to hold onto the football. "We didn't want guys knocking food all over the place," Ward said. "But anywhere else he's at other than the football field, he will have that ball. Meeting rooms, bathrooms, when he's out pumping gas he better have it, or he's going to get fined."

Bart Scott Will Still Be Looking For Hines Ward?

Nov 14, 2014 4:28 PM

Bart Scott of the Ravens still has hard feelings for Hines Ward. Scott threatened retribution after Ward delivered a pair of monster blocks -- one on Scott and one on safety Ed Reed -- during the Steelers-Ravens' game Nov. 5 at Heinz Field. Ward was held out of the Dec. 30 rematch to rest an injury before the playoffs. Neither block was penalized. Scott thought they were cheap shots. "I never forget," Scott said. "So, we shall see." Inquiring minds wanted to know if Scott, who'd threatened on the field to "kill" Ward, would follow through on his vow to "find him and make sure I take the most violent shot I can take." "That was about eight weeks ago," Scott said. "I don't have long-term memory. That is a defect I was born with: only short-term. You never noticed I wear a wristband on my hand? That's so I can remember the plays."

Leftwich Could Be The #2 All Season

Jul 22, 2014 12:16 AM

Byron Leftwich, who should be starting somewhere else in the NFL, took his first snaps on the practice field as the new No. 2 quarterback with the Steelers yesterday, and it's possible he could stay there the whole season. While the playoff opportunities for teams such as the Minnesota Vikings, Chicago Bears, and Baltimore Ravens go begging for a decent starting quarterback, Leftwich scalded the hands of new receivers with his well-known fastball in two practices at Saint Vincent College. "Byron was a No. 1 pick, the seventh overall in the draft," said Steelers quarterbacks' Coach Ken Anderson, who coached Leftwich for three seasons in Jacksonville. "He's started in the league, won games in the league. We're happy to have him here to kind of bail us out."
