The Philadelphia Eagles are interviewing Graham Harrell for their offensive coordinator vacancy. Harrell oversaw USC's offense last season and was their quarterback coach.

Doug Pederson fired Mike Groh last week after his two years as offensive coordinator.

Jim Caldwell and James Urban are also candidates.

Howie Roseman Knows Eagles Need To Get Younger

Jan 9, 2020 8:44 AM

The Philadelphia Eagles have made the playoffs in each of the last three seasons, but Howie Roseman acknowledged that the roster must get younger.

Part of that relates to Carson Wentz's contract. With the quarterback off his rookie scale deal, the Eagles need to balance their books with more small, rookie deals.

"Going forward, we need to infuse youth in this team," Howie Roseman said. "We think we're going to have 10 draft picks in the draft. We're excited about that."

The Eagles have only drafted 10 players over the last two years and had the third-oldest roster in the NFL this past year.

"We have a lot to do going forward," Roseman said. "When we look at our team from 2017 to 2019, we knew that we had one team. Really, a team that we were going to basically stick with. We didn't have a lot of resources in terms of draft picks. That's on me."

Malcolm Jenkins Won't Return To Eagles On Current Deal

Jan 7, 2020 8:35 AM

Malcolm Jenkins made it clear on Monday that he won't play for the Philadelphia Eagles next season if he's still under his current contract.

"I won't be back on the same deal. That won't happen," the safety said.

Jenkins, 32, is entering the final year of a four-year, $35 million deal. He is scheduled to make $7.6 million, but the market for safeties has shifted. Earl Thomas and Landon Collins have contracts averaging around $14 million annually.

He uncharacteristically skipped voluntary workouts in the spring but was in attendance for mandatory activities and put all public contract-related talk aside as the season approached.

Carson Wentz Apologizes To Teammates After Injury

Jan 6, 2020 8:49 AM

Carson Wentz was knocked out of Sunday's 17-9 loss to the Seattle Seahawks with a head injury after his helmet was driven into the turf by Jadeveon Clowney.

In his first playoff game, the Philadelphia Eagles quarterback lasted just eight plays.

After the loss, Wentz went up to every teammate's stall to thank them for their effort.

"He's like apologizing and stuff," Malcolm Jenkins said. "It's like, 'Bro, it's out of your control.' He didn't let us down at all. We wouldn't be in this spot without Carson.

"It's tough for him. Obviously, he really wants to be out there competing. He put a lot of work in to get to this spot and he gets hurt again. It's just unfortunate, but it's out of his control."

Eagles Describe Jadeveon Clowney's Hit On Carson Wentz As 'Dirty Play'

Jan 6, 2020 8:42 AM

The Philadelphia Eagles believed the hit Jadeveon Clowney had on Carson Wentz was dirty. Wentz left the game with a head injury and did not return.

Jason Peters confronted Clowney on the field after seeing a replay of the hit in which Clowney made contact with Wentz's helmet and upper back as they slammed into the turf.

"I checked Clowney about it," Peters said. "He was mouthing, I was mouthing back at him. ... I just told him, 'Man, that's a dirty play.' And he's like, 'My bad,' and we just kept playing.

"I just kept reminding him, 'Man, stay off my quarterback.'

"I'm a left tackle. I've got his back. I'm the blindside. And I just take it personal when somebody is taking a late hit or trying to rough up the quarterback."

Clowney said he was not attempting to injure Wentz.

"It was a bang-bang play. I don't intend to hurt anybody in this league, let me just put that out there. I've been down the injury road; it's not fun. My intention was not to hurt him. I was just playing fast."

Later, Clowney acknowledged he expects to get some blow back for the hit.

"There might be death threats," he said. Clowney also noted that fans at Philadelphia's Lincoln Financial Field are "the worst fans in the world."
