Eagles Remain Fully Committed To Carson Wentz

Dec 26, 2018 3:22 PM

Doug Pederson reiterated that the Philadelphia Eagles are fully committed to Carson Wentz as their quarterback of the future. Wentz is hurt for the second straight season and Nick Foles again has played well in place of him.

“I think you have to continue to talk,” Pederson said during his press conference. “I don’t think you have to necessarily always go out of your way and make sure that [you communicate that to him]. He understands. He knows the situation he’s in. He’s trying to get healthy. But at the same time, I want him to understand that, hey, he’s our guy. He’s the guy we drafted and moving forward, he’s our quarterback. I don’t have to sit there and keep encouraging; he knows that. But we do have conversation, and I try to encourage him the best I can.”

Foles will be a free agent this offseason.

Eagles To Start Nick Foles In Week 16, Leave Carson Wentz Off IR

Dec 17, 2018 1:05 PM

The Philadelphia Eagles will stick with Nick Foles as their starting quarterback for Week 16.

The Eagles will not place Carson Wentz on injured reserve at this time.

Sunday's win by the Eagles and the loss by the Cowboys leaves Philadelphia in the playoff picture.

Wentz is facing a three-month recovery for his back injury.

Carson Wentz Facing Three-Month Recovery Time For Stress Fracture

Dec 14, 2018 1:24 PM

Carson Wentz could need three months to heal the stress fracture in his back.

During a tense back-and-forth with the media, Doug Pederson said that it's an injury that has "evolved over time" and will not require surgery.

Wentz is being listed as questionable and will travel with the team for Sunday's game against the Los Angeles Rams.

Wentz, however, is unlikely to play again this season.

The fracture was discovered as a result of a scan on Tuesday, according to Pederson.

"Until you do a scan, you don't know," he said, but added "we do a lot of testing each week on a lot of players."

Carson Wentz has a fractured vertebra that should fully heal on its own if he's allowed time to rest.

The Philadelphia Eagles are still determining whether Wentz will continue playing at a later date this season.

Doug Pederson said Wednesday that Wentz was experiencing "soreness" and "tightness" in his back and wouldn't practice.

Nick Foles will start in place of Wentz.
